Ohio State has the best quarterback in the country coming to campus in 2022 in Southlake Carroll Texas prospect Quinn Ewers. Recruited by quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis, Ewers in the the top prospect nationally and in Texas for the year, playing at an upper echelon program. Schools involved in trying to secure a commitment from Ewers included Texas, Alabama, Auburn and others. He was on his way to the Texas Longhorns before the program began to have some problems, and coaching changes, that led him to change his pledge.

Ewers has a pro-style quarterback with the mobility to be a dual threat. He is able to change his arm angle and deliver accurate passes on the run without an issue. Some compare him to Drew Lock.

Ryan Day Develops Quarterbacks

Ryan Day has had great success developing quarterbacks at Ohio State and is known as a coach that develops NFL caliber signal callers. He should have three quarterbacks drafted in the first round of the NFL draft when Justin Fields is drafted this year. Two years ago he had Dwayne Haskins Jr picked 15th overall. And OSU transfer Joe Burrow has selected last year with the first pick overall by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ohio State is building one loaded quarterback room with 5 star recruits three years in a row. CJ Stroud and Jack Miller will compete for the starting job next year. Then Kyle McCord will have a year to develop before he battles Ewers for the starting job. Only more impressive than the quarterback room is the wide receiver room with top national talent committing three years in a row with names like Garrett Wilson, Julian Fleming, Jaxon Smith-Njibga, and Emeka Egbuka.

OSU 2022 Class

Ewers joins the 2022 class at Ohio State that is currently ranked the best in the country. Class also includes cornerback Jaheim Singletary, receiver Caleb Burton, linebacker Gabe Powers, linebacker CJ Hicks, safety Dasan McCullough, cornerback Jyaire Brown, offensive tackle Tegra Tshabola, and tight-ends Benji Gosnell and Bennett Christian.

Quinn Ewers joins Ohio State Early

Ewers might be joining the quarterback battle at Ohio State this Fall after arriving on campus in mid-August. The decision to reclassify from 2022 to 2021 was made so that Ewers could profit from the sale of name, image, and likeness at OSU. If he joins the camp it will be a four way competition between Ewers, Kyle McCord and sophomores CJ Stroud and Jack Miller. A decision on a starting quarterback for the Fall Season could happen the week of August 16th.

Quinn Ewers NIL Deals


Ewers has signed a number of name, image and likeness deals since re-classifying and coming to Ohio State this year. His most recent deal was worth $1.4 million with GT Sports for three years of autograph rights. This is the third deal the 2022 #1 quarterback has signed since joining the Buckeyes. Ewers was not able to make money on NIL deals wile is high school as Mississippi, Illinois and Texas have laws prohibiting such deals.

Quinn Ewers In The Transfer Portal


Ewers is planning on leaving Ohio State and entering the Transfer Portal at the end of his one season with the Buckeyes. After reclassifying to be able to come onto campus in 2021, he wasn't able to get on the field much although he did sign some lucrative naming rights deals. Quarterbacks CJ Stroud and Kyle McCord got almost all the available snaps during the year. "After a long thought process, I have decided to take the next step in transferring from the Ohio State University. I am looking forward to pursuing further opportunities in which I will be able to get on the field and help my team win." Ewers said.
